British Proof Coins
The Royal Mint produce limited numbers of British proof coins every year. All of these are strictly limited editions and like all collectables that are made in limited editions, some end up being rare for various reasons, and some end up being relatively common. However, even common proof coin sets are collectible.
Proof coins are struck with a mirror like polish. Obviously it is vital that they are kept out of circulation in order to maintain their condition though most British proof coin sets will always remain as such and will be collected and bought and sold over time as complete sets. The same ought to go for proof coins. These are also normally kept in sealed containers and should always retain (and be recognisable by) their shiny finish.
