To find the price for your coins we would recommend that you buy a UK coin price guide and then you take a look at current rare coin auctions and sales to see what is actually selling and for how much (and you can search on our site to find that information). If you have a particularly interesting coin, try contacting some dealers for a quote (but remember that they will be buying at a discount). If you can’t be bothered trying to sell your coins yourself, you might be happy with this as long as it’s not too far off the coin price guide valuation. On the other hand, you may then decide to list it on Ebay or in another place so that you get the best price for your coins.

If you are looking for a general coin price guide which goes beyond decimal coins then this is a good price guide. British Coins market values 2022 but please note, decimal values do not go beyond 2010 so if you are interested in very new AND very old coins, then you would need to buy both of these. However, coupled with the guide above, you should have a great general idea of all UK coin values with these two on your bookshelf.

What we would remind you about any coin price guide is that they are just guides. All coin values will vary depending on what is currently in demand and available. It’s basic economics. Coin price guides are great for giving you a quick benchmark of the potential rarity of a coin, but they alone won’t tell you exactly what your coin is worth. Also, if selling coins to a coin dealer, remember that they will expect to make a profit on the deal because that’s how they make their livelihood. Therefore if you choose to sell your coin collection to a dealer, you must expect to sell it at a substantial discount because the dealer is buying it purely to resell at a profit and they need to cover their expenses which might include premises, printing or website costs, postage as well as making a profit that they can actually live on.
